What is Virtual Production?

There are multiple forms of Virtual Production but most of my experience lies within In-Camera VFX. Typically that process involves building an LED Volume, mapping that volume into Unreal Engine, then shooting content on the wall with real time parallax within engine. Imagine green-screen but better. You get real time reflections, actors are immersed in the set, and the creative team has a concrete understanding of what the digital space will look like instantaneously.

Stage Operations

Joyride

A one day shoot in space. “JOYRIDE”, is the story of two time travelers who make an unauthorized stop at a not so distant point in time. I had fix a majority of the materials from the VAD at lunch! Click the image for the entire piece.

“Friends” - Corona

For this project, I remoted in from my house in Rochester, NY and was able to support and operate the stage. With a beach and a snowy cabin scene in one day, and on-the-fly color correction due to time and budget constraints, we got a lot done! Click the image for the entire piece.

DEV 1 Trailer

I co-directed this spot with Sullivan Slentz for Rochester Institute of Technology’s Electric Vehicle Team. RIT recieved a Mega Grant for VP and we created curriculum for them and shot this piece to demonstrate the capability of the RIT tech and promo the new EVT motorcycle.

Stage Builds

Before you can shoot some of the awesome projects up above, you have to build the volume. My expertise lies in the Unreal integration of a new volume build. I can achieve the sychronization workflows necessary for ICVFX and work with LED technicians to establish a working set.
